Japanese: Bento
Bento lunchboxes are becoming more popular outside of Japan as a way of increasing the variety of foods and controlling portion sizes at lunchtime. Designed to be taken away to school, work or on a train, bento lunches are available at convenience stores, and are often prepared at home. Presentation, freshness and variety are all extremely important aspects of bento. Food is often arranged or decorated to resemble other objects, often of a kawaii (cute) variety.
